Benson - Richard

On Wednesday at 7 o’clock Richard S. Benson died at his home on South Elm Street. Mr. Benson has been one of Crawfordsville’s substantial business men. He was one of the inventors of the patent dovetail for buggy beds which are made in this city. He was fifty seven years old and leaves a wife and several children. He was a soldier in the late Civil War. For two years he has been unable to do any work but has been able to be up. Four days ago he was taken suddenly ill and died Wednesday morning of heart disease. Funeral services will be at the house Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock conducted by Rev. Creighton. Interment will be at Masonic Cemetery. -s
