James W. Bennett, of the Fortieth Indiana, Passes Away at Brown's Valley Another old soldier has gone to his final reward. James W. Bennett died at Brown's Valley Sunday night at 10 o'clock after being afflicted for two or three months with paralysis. He was a member of Company C, 40th Indiana Regiment, and was sixty-two years old. James W. Bennett died at Browns Valley on Sunday of paralysis. The body was interred at the Masonic Cemetery at Crawfordsville after funeral services at the home conducted by Rev. D.P. Lizton. Mr. Bennett was a member of Co. C 40th IVI and while in the service lost one eye by a gunshot wound. -- kbz
