Roy
Bennett, son of Richard and Cally Bennett,
born in Montgomery County, was killed in Rossville,, Ill., on Tuesday of last
week by a horse falling on him. The horse was a gentle family animal but ran
off and fell on him, hurting him so badly that death came on Friday. The
remains were brought here and laid to rest in Liberty Cemetery .
Roy lived with
his mother and stepfather at Rossville, and was 16 years old. His mother’s maiden name was Hauk, daughter
of Absalom Hauk. Roy’s father died ten years ago last spring and about five
years ago she married Ezra Smock, of Rossville, Ill. Roy is missed around the
family fireside and in the Sunday school and day school. -s
