Tom Garland has just returned from Nebraska where he was called by the death of his aunt, Mrs. Frank BELTON who died at age 86. Her husband was a brother-in-law of Dr. Kleiser. - kbz

Emma L. Garland, daughter of Benjamin and Lucinda Clore Garland was born near Waveland, Indiana on Oct 16, 1858 and passed from this life at her home in Ogallala, Nebr April 3, 1945 at the age of 8 years 5 months 18 days. In the early years of her life she studied the skills of nursing and was employed as a nurse at the Fletcher Santarium in Indianapolis, Ind for a number of years. On Sept 28, 1899 she was united in marriage to Frank M. Belton and the couple lived for a while at Waveland, Ind. They then moved to Texas living first at Anahuac and later Beaumont. In 1920 Mr. and Mrs. Belton came to Ogallala to care for an ailing sister, Mrs. LB Hanna and liking the community lived here until her death. Mrs. Belton along with her husband took an active interest in agricultural and farm organization and contributed regularly to county fairs and similar events. Being one who loved her home and took pride in it, she has been known for her love of flowers and birds and her success in these fields. She is survived by her loving husband and by one stepson, Rupert Belton of Oklahoma City and by 8 nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. - kbz

Services for Mrs. FM Belton, 87, died Tuesday April 3 were held from the family home on West 5th Street Saturday afternoon, Rev. CT Hawes, pastor of the Ogallala Methodist Church officiated. The music consisted of two recorded hymns, Lead Kindly Light and Abide with Me. The casket was carried by John Frerichs, George Frerichs, John M. Creamer, Marcus Stevers, George A. Anderson and CD Sanders. Surviving are her husband and a stepson, Rupert Belton of Oklahoma City, Okla and several nieces and nephews. - kbz
