Tragedy struck in Waynetown Wednesday when Mrs. Eileen F. Bell, 24 and mother of four small children, died of burns in Culver Hospital. Mrs. Bell was fatally burned as a coal heating stove exploded as she was apparently pouring kerosene on the fire. Neighbors heard the explosion and dragged the burning victim from the home and rescued the four tots. 90% of Mrs. Bell’s body was burned according to the hospital. The husband and father, William Bell was at work in the Crawfordsville Donnelley plant at the time of the tragic event. Eileen F. Bell was born Dec 14, 1929 in Union Township, Montgomery County daughter of Raymond and Frances Furr Alexander. She was married Oct 22, 1948 to William Bell. Surviving with the husband are two sons, Lawrence A, 5 and David A 3; two daughters, Colleen A 14 months and Jacquelyn A, 2 months; her parents and a half brother, Raymond E. Alexander of Albuquerque, NM. The body is at the Grenard & Servies Funeral Home where services will be at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. John R. Servies will officiate and burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. – kbz
