Our citizens were shocked Wednesday morning to learn of the death of Mary Beedle. She had been in poor health for several years, but it was not known that she was worse than usual until the announcement of her demise. Mary C. Dunwiddie was born near this place March 27, 1841, was married to Jasper M. Beedle January 1, 1861, and died December 16, 1896, having lived in this vicinity all her life. In early youth she united with the Baptist Church, but after her marriage to Mr. Beedle, she withdrew from the Baptist denomination and united with the Pleasant Hill Christian Church, of which she has long been a member.
The funeral was held at the Christian Church Thursday morning at 11 o’clock, conducted by Rev. F. P. Trotter, of Darlington. She leaves a brother, sister, husband and adopted daughter to mourn her loss.
