Hillsboro - John Paul Beck, Jr, 70, of Hillsboro died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday in Veterans Medical Center at Danville, Ill after an extended illness. He was a farmer and retired auctioneer. He served with the Navy during WWII., Mr. Beck was a member of the Waynetown Christian Church, American Quarter Horse Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2395 of Covington. He was a graduate of Waynetown HS. He was born Dec 31, 1926, at Crawfordsville to John Paul Sr and Bessie Hyatt Beck. Surviving are four sons: Rex of Hillsboro; Ryan of Veedersburg; Roger of Lafayette and RIck of Covington; a daughter, Rhonda Kelly of Veedersburg; a brother, Gerald of Lafayette; a sister, Mary Ann Slavens of Indianapolis and 14 grandchildren. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery with Rev. Bud Stidham officiating. The body will be creamted and there will be no calling. Covington VFW Post 2395 will conduct graveside military honors. Shoemaker Funeral Home at Waynetown is in charge of arrangements. - kbz
