James Y. Beam, 91 years old, a lifelong resident of Montgomery County died Monday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Harry Stout, northeast of here. He had been in failing health several years and seriously ill one week. Born near Waynetown, March 17, 1850, the son of Jacob and Margaret Thompson Beam, he was united in marriage with Isabella Williamson Oct 6, 1881, the wife preceding him in death two years ago. A resident of Wayne township, Mr. Beam had devoted his life to farming and was well known in agricultural circles at Waynetown and vicinity. Surviving, besides the daughter at whose home he died, are one son, Claude L. Beam of Crawfordsville, a brother, C. E. Beam of Indianapolis and four grandchildren, Mrs. Leslie VanScoyoc of Shelbyville and Benjamin, Paul and Harry Stout, Jr. all of this city. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Proffitt & Sons Mortuary, with Rev. John Servies officiating. Burial will be made at Waynetown. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home as the body will be kept there preceding the rites.
