BALLARD, Alice Harper

Alice Harper Ballard wife of John Ballard died at her home in Indianapolis Tuesday of malarial fever and the remains were shipped here Wednesday and taken to the home of Lew Ballard, north of town father of John and were interred yesterday forenoon in the IOOF cemetery here (Jamestown – note her husband died of malaria three weeks later).  Funeral services were held at the Christian Church before interment. The deceased was a well educated and promising lady in the prime of life, having educated herself for professional work and she and husband had recently been admitted to the Marion County bar and she was assisting her husband in office work in his law practice.  She was a native of Ohio.  A large concourse of friends attended the funeral.  The services were conducted by Rev. Charles Jakes.

Mrs. Alice Harter Ballard, wife of JE Ballard died at her home yesterday morning of “typhoid fever”.   Mrs. Ballard died at her home yesterday morning of typhoid fever.  Mrs. Ballard was a graduate of the law department of Indiana University and practiced her profession with her husband, they having offices in the Law building. She came here from Jamestown, Ind her former home to which place the remains will be sent for burial.
