LEVIT MACK BAYLESS

Levit Mack Bayless, the second child of John G and Lydia M. Bayless was born Feb 7, 1871 in Indiana and at the time of his death, Jan 26, 1909, he had attained the age of 37 years 11 months and 19 days. For two weeks prior to his death his sufferings were intense. As a boy and man he had never been especially rugged and in later years he had shown unmistakable signs of failing health. Though born and reared on a farm he never enjoyed the avocation of the farmer, as such a life was not conducive to his tastes. He was a natural musician and along this line of work he was skillful and painstaking and had wrought for himself in the city of Crawfordsville a successful business. He made his confession of his Savior in early life in the little old church where today his funeral services are being held. He married Lena May Creque, March 15, 1900 and to this union 3 children were born: Ruth aged 6; Donald passing away at age 10 months and Glen, who is now 8 months old. Levit was of a friendly and kind disposition and always had a kind word for the friends he knew best. One of the traits of his character most especially noticeable was his strong love for his children, especially for the birght sweet little girl of 6 whom those who know him best say he almost worshipped. She was the pride of his life. She had become old enough to love him in return. He is survived by his wife and two children, his parents and his sister, Mrs. Ada Clore and brother, Arthur Bayless. The parents and sister and brother will miss his companionship, and his comings and goings but sad it is that the little woman is deprived of her husband and support and the little children of the love of a father. But God, in his infinite wisdom knows best and to His decrees we should willingly bow. - kbz
