LINDEN — Bettye L. Baugh, 53, of Lafayette, died unexpectedly at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday in Home Hospital at Lafayette. She had been ill a week and admitted to the hospital on Tuesday night. Mrs. Baugh had lived in Tippecanoe County since 1946. Prior to that she lived in Evansville. She was a member of Evansville Order of Eastern Star, Stephens College Alumni and Romney Presbyterian Church. She had attended Stephens College and Purdue Graduate University of Evansville where she received a B.A. degree in 1945. Born Oct. 17, 1923, at Evansville, she was the daughter of J. Ralph and Mae E. Stocks Irons. She married Evan R. Baugh on Dec. 24, 1943, at Evansville. He survives. Also surviving are four sons, Thomas and Jerry of Lafayette, E. Royce of Indianapolis and Eugene of Gersham, Wis.; a daughter, Beth Rile of Lafayette; and four grandchildren. Services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Friday in Helms Funeral Home at Linden with the Rev. Clayton Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery at Romney. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. today.--waw
