Charles S. Barton, 65, who retired in 1949 after 43 years of service with the Mid-States and Wire Company of Crawfordsville, died early Tuesday morning at Culver Hospital where he had been a patient for two days. Born July 18, 1887, in Danville, Ind., Mr. Barton was the son of Charles and Dora Barton. He came to Montgomery county to reside in 1905 and after a brief period of employment with the Indiana Printing Company he became associated with the Mid-Sates Company. Mr. Barton was married February 10, 1907. His wife, Olive Annette Barton, died May 28, 1949. Survivors include two sons - Paul Barton of Crawfordsville, and Dr. Bernard C. Barton, of Clifton, N.J.; four grandchildren, David and Barbara Barton of Crawfordsville and Brian and Beverly Barton of Clifton, one brother, Otto Barton of Lafayette. One sister, Dona May Manning, died in 1918. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Paul E. Million, pastor of the First Christian Church, at the Bright Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Tuesday.
