Lafayette Courier: This morning a tramp named Patrick Barry, of Chicago, about 33 years old, while sitting on the Monon track at Cherry Grove, about six miles north of Crawfordsville, was struck by a freight engine and was probably fatally injured. He lay where he was thrown by the engine for over an hour, and then was picked up and carried to a residence. This afternoon he was brought to Lafayette and taken to the Salem Street Depot where Dr. Beasley attended him. Terrible gashes are cut in his head, several ribs broken and it is thought he is injured internally and will die. He has been removed to St. Elizabeth Hospital.
