Charles D. Chine BARR, 77, businessman here for more than a quarter of a century, died 5 a.m. Tuesday at the W. 10th St Veteran Hospital, Indianapolis. He had been in ill health for two years. Mr. Barr owned and operated a restaurant in Waveland for 17 years. He later operated a tavern here 10 years before retiring two years ago. He was active in all community affairs and was widely known in the area. Born Feb 9, 1881 in Waveland he was the son of Wesley and Mary Phillips Barr. He was married in 1992 (sic) to Dominica (Dee) Luciano in Brazil.
During WWI, Mr. Barr served with the US Army. He was a member of the Raymond Todd Post 323 of the Waveland American Legion. Mr. Barr had been a member of the Waveland Methodist Church for 50 years. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Waveland. T he survivors include the wife; a sister, Mrs. Ella Hickman of Union Springs, Alabama; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday at the Machledt & Servies Funeral home with Rev. Lowell Morris in charge. Burial in Waveland Presbyterian Cemetery. Military graveside services were conducted by the Waveland, Russellville, Crawfordsville and Rockville American Legion Post. - kbz
