The funeral of Jacob H. Barnhart occurred a the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Barnhart, Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, and was conducted by Rev. Earle Wilfey. The interment took place at the Masonic cemetery. Among those who attended were Mrs. Sadie Cassidy of Chicago, Mrs. Lizzie Grimes, William Gillis and Charles Barnhart of Danville, Ill.; Will Stanley, Mrs. James Hurst, Miss Rosa Justice and Miss Nellie and Leota Barnhart, daughters of the deceased, of Lafayette, and Mr. and Mrs. George Barnhart of Villa Grove, Ill. - kbz

Jacob H. Barnhart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Barnhart of South Grant Avenue, aged 39 years, died at the county jail Friday night shortly after 10 o'clock. He was temporarily demented from the use of intoxicants and wandered away from home on Thursday night. He was found in the Masonic cemetery talking foolishly and was taken to the county jail. A commission in lunacy was appointed for Friday afternoon, but failed for some reason. He leaves three children at Lafayette by a divorced wife. Dr. G. W. Swank was called to the jail last night about ten and was preparing to give him a hypodermic injection to stimulate his heart when he died. The funeral will be conducted at the residence of his parents on Sunday at three. Burial at Masonic cemetery. - typed by kbz
