Herman B. Barnhart, 70, former superintendent of composition at the government Printing Office, died Friday night after being stricken with a heart attack Sunday at his home, 1415 Shepherd street, N.W.
Mr. Barnhart had lived in Washington 40 years, coming here from Crawfordsville, Ind., to accept a position in the G.P.O. as a compositor. He retired in 1936 and since that time had been active in the affairs of the Association of Veteran Union Printers, an organization composed of pension members of the Columbia Typographical Union No. 101.
Mr. Barnhart is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nellie M. Barnhart, and a son, Donald C. Barnhart. Funeral services will be held tomorrow, with burial in Glenwood Cemetery. – thanks to Kim H
