Francis W. Barnes, 51, of New Richmond, died suddenly at 6:45 a. m. Thursday, June 23, 1977. He was dead on arrival at Home Hospital in Lafayette. He had been employed at Ralston-Purina Co. at Lafayette for the last 29 years. He was a member of the Jackson Heights Methodist Church and lived in Jackson Township, Tippecanoe County before moving to New Richmond in 1937. Born at West Point Nov. 6th, 1925, he was a son of Allen and Mamie Elizabeth Byers Barnes. He was married to Esther Freed on June 30, 1945, at West Point. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Judy Childress of New Richmond; three sons, Terry of New Richmond and Arvin and Leonard at home; a sister, Mrs. Ray (Velma) Pring of West Point.; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Saturday in Hippensteel Funeral Home at Lafayette with Rev. Clayton Kendall officiating. Burial in West Point Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p. m. Friday.
