Thomas Z. Ball, Jr. 90 of 3430 Summer Valley Road, New Rinngold, died Oct 18 in his home. He was the husband of the late Doria Wesner Ball. He was a supervisor for the analytical department of Atlas Powder Co, Tamaqua for 40 years before retiring in 1976. He received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Wabash College in 1935 and his master’s in chemical engineering from PU in 1937. Born in Waveland, ind he was a son of the late Thomas Z. Sr and Myrtle (Fordyce) Ball. He was a member of Zion Stone Church, New Ringgold, and served on its cemetery board. He served on the Tamaqua Area School Board, the Tamaqua Building Authority and was a board member of the Schuykill County AAA for 20 years, where he was director emeritus. He founded and served as cub master for Clamtown Cub Pack 154. Survivors: Sons: Thomas R of Cherryville; Kenneth D of Buena Vista, Pa; five grandchildren. Services 2 p.m. today, Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 2066 W Penn Pike, New Rinngold. Call 1-2 p.m. today. Contributions; Church Cemetery fund.
