Ball - Elizabeth Hopping

Waynetown - Elizabeth Hopping Ball, 83, died at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday after a serious illness of four weeks following a stroke. She had been bedfast for four years and died in the home of Miss Amy Scudder who had cared for her for five and one-half years. Mrs. Ball had resided with Miss Scudder for four and a half years. She was born Dec 18, 1873, near Yountsville, the daughter of George Richard and Julia Denman Hopping. She was married June 26, 1903 to William T. Ball who died in January 1944. Mrs. Ball was a member of the Christian Union Church and lived around Yountsville until she and her husband moved to Waynetown in 1918. She is survived by two sons, Francis J of Crawfordsville and Clarence W of Louisville, Ky; one half-sister, Runetta Hopping Martin, Miles City, Mont; four grandchildren and two step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and her stepmother Sally Berkshire Hopping; two brothers, William and Frank Hopping, one sister, Fannie and one half-sister, Thirza. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Servies Funeral Home with Rev. Guy E. Tremaine officiating. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
