Hillsboro, July 27 - Franklin P. Bailey, age 89, one of the oldest residents of this community, died at his home here Monday night at 8 o'clock after having been seriously ill for the past 5 weeks. Infirmities of his advanced age caused his death. He had been in decliniing health for the year. Mr. Bailey was born near Hillsboro on April 4, 1854, the son of Thomas and Sarah Gayder Bailey and in 1888 he was married to Carrie Tucker, who preceded him in death with an infant daughter. Mr. Bailey was employed for a number of years as a section worker on the Big Four railroad. He was a member of the Hillsboro Knights of Pythias Lodge and only recently received his 50-year membership pin. He is surived by two daughters, Mrs. Bea knox and Miss Betty Bailey, both at home; a granddaughter, Mrs. Jean Wood and a great grandson. A sister, Mrs. Lizzie Bromley of Indianapolis and a brother, William Bailey of Hillsboro also survive. The funeral will be held from the Hillsboro Christian Church at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with burial in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. The casket will not be opened at the church. Friends may pay their respects at the late home until time for the funeral. - kbz
