Thomas W. BANTA 79 who has been an invalid for several months died at his home on W Main at 7:30 on Wed evening. Funeral service at the home on Fri afternoon will be in charge of Rev JO Carder. Burial in Maple Ridge. - kbz

Thomas Wesley BANTA was born in Jefferson County, Indiana June 10, 1860. He departed this life Dec. 27, 1939 aged 79 years, 6 months 17 days. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge, the Knights of Pythias and Modern Woodmen. In 1890 he was married to Florence BAXTER, and lived on a farm near New Richmond for many years. He later lived in Crawfordsville and worked in the casket company, then moved to Gary where he worked in the Emerson Schools as supervisor of Janitors. The past 3 1/2 years he has lived in Waveland. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Florence Banta, 3 sons: Theron and George of Waveland and Basle of Gary; 7 grandchildre, one great grandchild and one brother, George B. Bants of Norwalk, California. One son, Perry of Gary, preceded him ind eath in March 1939. Funeral services were held at the home at 2 p.m. on Friday with Rev. JO Carder of the Methodist Church officiating. Mrs. Lowell Spencer played lovely organ music preceding the services. Mrs. Orris Reiter and Mrs. Eiby Emmert sang "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Burial was madein Maple Ridge Cemtery of Waveland. - kbz
