NEW RICHMOND — William James Bailey, 74, resident of this community for the past 16 years, died at his home on Madison Street at 5:50 a.m. Monday. He had been in ill health for three years and seriously sick for 10 months. Born March 12, 1886, in Todd County, Ky., he was the son of John and Mary Ipock. He later was adopted by a family named "Bailey" and used that name for the remainder of his life. He was married Feb. 14, 1916, at Logansport to June H. Reynolds. Mr. Bailey was a member of the Indian Creek Christian Church at Logansport. For many years, he was employed as a lineman by the Linden Telephone Co. Survivors include the wife; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Ryan of Indianapolis, Mrs. Thelma Smith of Rt. 11, Lafayette, and Mrs. Norma Matricia of Columbus, Ga.; three sons, Warren Bailey of New Richmond, Paul Bailey of Rt. 7, Lafayette, and Donald Bailey of Lafayette; a sister, Mrs. O. L. Morrison of Lafayette; 14 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Two sisters and a brother preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Helms Funeral Home in Linden, with Rev. Philip Bradford, pastor of the New Richmond Christian Church, in charge. Burial will be in the New Richmond Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday. - kbz
