JOHN BAILEY

After a long illness, John BAILEY died at his home six miles west of the city on Thursday night at the age of about 39 years. At the request of his family, Drs. Cowan; Ensminger; Purviance; Keegan; Morgan; Leech and John Ensminger made a post mortem examination of the body yesterday. The cause of death was found to be chronic peritenites together with a chronic liver trouble. Mr. Bailey was an excellent man, a popular citizen and will be missed in many ways. He leaves a wife and one child. He will be buried at Oak Hill Cemetery tomorrow under the auspices of the Masonic fraternity of which he was an honored member. Rev. JW Greene will conduct the religious ceremonies. - kbz

He was in Co. D 13th Regiment of the Indiana Infantry during the Civil War - born 19 July 1842 - he married Lizzie Switzer (1849-1927)
