Atkinson - Robert E.

Death came to Robert E. Atkinson, a well known grocer and huckster of this county early yesterday morning and was due to cancer of the stomach.  He had been ill for three months but not until two weeks ago was he forced to stay in bed. He gradually became worse and sank to his death.  Mr. Atkinson was 56 years of age and a resident of Crawfordsville for the past 30 years. He has been interested in several groceries and huckster routes and lately has been stationed at a small grocery in Longview just west of the Dry Branch bridge on West Wabash avenue.  He was born at Sylvania, Ind in Parke County in 1850 and lived there until his removal to this city.  He is survived by his wife, Lendoris, his father, James Atkinson and three children, James and Claude Atkinson and Mrs. JE Zohn all of this city.  Mr. Atkinson was a member of the Eagle Lodge. Funeral services will be held from the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 and will be in charge of Rev. CB Stanforth of the Trinity Church.  Burial will be made in Masonic cemetery. - kbz
