ARTHUR, Grace Maude - 1981

Miss Grace Maude Arthur, 74 of 1111 Homewood Drive died in her home Thursday. She had been a teacher at Crawfordsville HS for 38 years, 1930-1968.  She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, was a deacon in the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, a member of Milligan Memorial Presbyterian Church, treasurer of the Montgomery County Historical Society, treasurer of Alpha Omicron Pi Social Sorority, a member of AAUW, National Retired Teachers Association, Order of Eastern Star 97, School Women’s Club and a charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was born July 23, 1906 at Logansport a daughter of Elijah A. and Eva Lenora Ford Arthur. Her father was pastor of Milligan Memorial Presbyterian Church and her mother was a probation officer for many years. She was graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1924, was a graduate of Indiana University in 1928 and received her master’s degree from Butler University. Surviving is a nephew, Richard Arthur of Crawfordsville who was raised n the Arthur home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Larimore Wickett officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday. The family has asked that memorials be made to Disability Services.
