August F. "Gus Arndt" Arnett, 78, of Rt. 6, was found dead of natural causes Tuesday afternoon in his home north of the city. He had been alone while his wife was hospitalized here and apparently had been fatally stricken Sunday. Born in Tippecanoe County near Stockwell on Sept. 18, 1890, he was a son of Frederick and Mollie Cain Arndt. He was educated in that county. His first marriage was to Ethel Cart. On June 24, 1919 he was wed in Boswell to Allie Roberts, who survives. Mr. Arnett was a World War I veteran and member of the Modern Woodman Lodge. He farmed and was a construction worker. He lived near Boswell and Oxford and for a time at Oakwood, Ill., moving to near Stockwell in 1928. In 1933 he moved to the present home near Crawfordsville. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Charles Rieg of Lafayette; a brother, Noah A. Arndt of near Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Ann Dieterlie of Lafayette and Mrs. Goldie Barnaby of Stockwell, and two granddaughters. A son, Robert, died in 1916, and a brother and sister of Mr. Arnett are deceased. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Bright Funeral Home with Rev. Howard F. Miller officiating.
