At his home three miles south of town, Fred E. S. Armantrout died July 11. The funeral service was
conducted on Thursday by Rev. Grimes, of Indianapolis ,
and Rev. Mater. The interment was at Oak Hill.
The deceased was a son of Eli F. Armantrout and wife, born
Aug. 24, 1873. In September, 1896, he married Miss Mary Brackett, and three
children have blessed their home.
Failure of sight some six months ago was followed by a
gradual decline and the suffering of the past month was borne with wonderful
fortitude.
Realizing the fatal character of his disease, he arranged every
detail of business and planned for the care of his little family. At a
beautiful home service three weeks ago he sang his favorite songs and was
baptized as a follower of Christ by Rev. Grimes. With perfect faith in his
Savoir the last days were passed in peaceful resignation, his one desire being
that his children should grow to honorable man and womanhood. Of an amiable
cheerful disposition he enjoyed making friends who were limited only by the
circle of his acquaintance. In the sacred relations of life he was a loyal,
conscientious brother, son, husband and father. To the little children he left
the legacy of a pure and upright character. The community has lost a good
citizen, but his life was long enough to make a bright example for other men to
follow.
