Alberta Buxton, oldest daughter of Millard and Alice Buxton, was born in Mercer County, Ohio, April 27, 1877, and departed this life Aug. 23, 1900, aged 23 years, 3 months and 29 days. She came to Indiana with her parents in 1884 and was married to C. B. Appleby July 12, 1896. To this union was born one son. Our sister leaves behind a little son, a brother, three sisters, a devoted father, an affectionate husband, a sainted grandmother and a multitude of friends to mourn her loss. Sister Appleby united with the M. E. Church in 1893 and died in the triumphs of her Christ. As a friend had no superior, as a mother she was loving and as a companion she was devoted. The funeral was held at the M. E. Church and was largely attended. Rev. C. W. Postill officiated, using for his text “For in time of trouble he will hide me in his pavilion:” Ps. 27:5. Interment was at Shawnee Cemetery. – thanks so much to s for tying this and so many obits for this site
