Albert O. Austin, seventy years old, for fifty years a prominent resident of this city, died at Culver union hospital this morning at four after an illness of only a few days duration. Mr. Austin was stricken ill Friday and was taken to the hospital Sunday, when his condition became worse. At four Sunday afternoon he was operated on in an effort to give him relief from peritonitis. When an incision was made it was found that he was also suffering with cancer. His condition became worse during the night until his death at the early hour this morning. Mr. Austin was born in this city, May 30, 1845, and had resided here all of his life except the twenty years that he lived on a farm six miles north of the city. He was the son of Samuel Wilson Austin, one of the earliest residents of Montgomery county, and a grandson of John Baden Austin, the first auditor of the county. Thirty-five years ago the deceased was married to Miss Mary Campbell, who survives him. No children were born to them. Mr, Austin is survived also by three brothers, Arch, C., Henry and Frank, and a half sister, Mrs. George Grimes, all of this city. Funeral services will be conducted from the home of Arch Austin, 312 East Main Street, at two Wednesday afternoon, and burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. - kbz
