Mace -- William O. "Bill" Armstrong, 63, retired service station owner and operator was found dead in bed at his home here where he lived alone, by a neighbor about 5:20 p.m. Tuesday. The body was discovered by Paul Smith who told authorities he went to the house because he had not seen Mr. Armstrong since Saturday. The latter had been in failing health for some time. It was believed he was fatally stricken Saturday night or Sunday. For 30 years he owned or operated gasoline service stations in Crawfordsville, a Shell station for about 20 years and also a Phillips station. He was a native of Mace, born August 18, 1899 to Frank and Molly Bunn Armstrong. He was married in 1932 to Pearl Keller, who preceded him in death in 1946 Surviving include a sister, Mrs. Ruth Scott of Crawfordsville, 3 nieces and 2 nephews. A son died in infancy and another sister, Mrs. Lula Calhan last year. Services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home in Crawfordsville where friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. John Servies will officiate. Burial will be in Mace Knights of Pythias Cemetery. - kbz

Funeral services for William O. Armstrong were held Thursday afternoon in Hunt & Son Funeral Home, Rev. John Servies officiating. Burial was in Mace Knights of Pythias Cemetery. Serving as pall bearesr and assisting with flowers were Justin T. Myers, Dumont Feathers, Charles Norman, Noel Grandstaff, Raymond Chesterson and M. T. Gisler. Selections were played on the organ by Mrs. O. C. Edwards. Mr. Armstrong, Crawfordsville businessman for many years, died at his home in Mace. - kbz
