Funeral services for Melvin Armstrong, age 54, a resident of Crawfordsville and brother of Mrs. E. H. (Thelma) O'Brien of Covington, who died Sunday, July 24, at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville, were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home in that city. The Rev. Milo Riggs officiated and burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Crawfordsville. Mr . Armstrong was born Sept. 15, 1911, in Parke County, the son of Earl and Bessie Mitchell Armstrong. He had been employed as superintendent of the Masonic Cemetery in Crawfordsville and formerly had been superintendent of Oak Hill Cemetery. He had been ill for the past four and one-half years. Survivors include: his wife, Annette, whom he married June 23, 1943; two sons, Richard of Vincennes and Michael at home; two sisters, Mrs. O'Brien of Covington and Mrs. George Hoffa of Gosport. Funeral services for Melvin Richard Armstrong were held Wednesday afternoon in the Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Milo Riggs officiating. Burial was on the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers and assisting with the floral tributes were Edward O'Brien, Thomas McGurk, Noble Miller, Jess Gobel, Forrest Swank and Wilbur Riddle. Selections were played on the organ by Mrs. Robert Middleton. Mr. Armstrong, superintendent of the Masonic Cemetery, died Sunday night at Culver Hospital.
