New Market, Aug. 23.-Mrs Emily Elizabeth Armstrong, 74, a native of Montgomery county and an early school teacher, died at her home near New Market at 6:30 o'clock Sunday night. Death was caused by paralysis. She had been ill since last Christmas. Mrs. Armstrong was born on November 17, 1862, the daughter of Edwin and Sarah Vancleave, and on October 18, 1891 she was married to Albert Armstrong of this city. She attended the Ladoga Normal School during her girlhood and later for 10 years was a school teacher. Mrs. Armstrong was a member of the Primitive Baptist church. She is survived by two sons, Edwin and Lawrence Armstrong of New Market; one daughter, Mrs. Charles L. Couger of Indianapolis; five sisters, Mrs. Milbert Sayler, and Lena, Effie, and Alma Vancleave, all of New Market; and three grandchildren, Mrs. Herbert Hitch, of Dana, Ind., and Maurine and Royce Armstrong of New Market. Her husband and an infant son preceded her in death. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the Primitive Baptist church of Brown's Valley, with Rev. C.L. Airhart in charge. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour preceding the service. - kbz
