NEW RICHMOND — Mary Armfield, 84, of New Richmond, died at 10:55 p.m. Sunday in Lane House Care Center at Crawfordsville. She had been a resident there since 1976. Miss Armfield taught at Valparaiso University for 23 years and in Montgomery County schools before retiring in 1952. She had lived in the New Richmond community for 51 years. She was a member of Center Christian Church near Elmdale, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and a former member of Business and Professional Women. She attended Indiana University, Valparaiso University and Madame Blakers School at Indianapolis. She was a 1911 graduate from Crawfordsville High School. Born Oct. 27, 1892, near New Richmond, she was a daughter of Robert L. and Ida M. Miller Armfield. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Ruth Burnett of New Richmond; a niece, Mrs. Frances Pittman of Crawfordsville; and a nephew, Robert Murphy of Crawfordsville. Three sisters and a brother are deceased. Services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with the Rev. Hugh Dooley officiating. Burial will be in New Richmond Cemetery.
