Following an operation performed last Tuesday at the Methodist hospital in Indianapolis, B. A. Archey, for several years a coal dealer, and prominent business man of Frankfort, died in the Indianapolis hospital at 11 o’clock last night. The operation was for gall stones. Mr. Archey seemed to stand the operation well and indications were that he was slowly recovering. However his condition took a sudden changed for the worse yesterday afternoon and death followed quickly. Members of the family here received news of his death last night from Harry L. Archey, a son residing at Indianapolis. Mr. Archey had been at Indianapolis. Mr. Archey had been a resident of Frankfort for about 14 years, coming here from Crawfordsville. At first he was in the stock buying business and later entered the retail and wholesale cola business. Newton L. Brant became a partner of Mr. Archey last July when the firm became known as the Archey-Brant Coal company. Mr. Archey was a member of the M. E. church, also of the Knights of Pythias. He is survived by his wife and one son, Harry L. of Indianapolis. Members of the family were so shocked by the death that no arrangements have been made for the funeral, other than that interment will probably be made at Crawfordsville. The body may be brought here for a ceremony before being taken to Crawfordsville. The body arrived at 3:49 on the T. H. I. & E. traction line this afternoon and was taken to the residence on West Washington street, where the funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning. Rev. G. V. Morris of the M. E. church will officiate and the remains will be taken to Crawfordsville for interment.
