Mrs. Hannah Layton ANDREWS
Source: Crawfordsville Review Friday Jan
21, 1916 -- Romney, Jan 20 -
After an ill ness extending over a period of
several months Mrs. Hannah ANDREWS one among the oldest and most highly
respected citizens of Randolph Twp died at her home in Romney Tues 7 p.m. For something like several months she had not
been well having cancer of the throat.
Saturday there was a change for the worse and her condition was critical
from that time until death. Mrs. Andrews was born at Chillicothe OH Dec 11,
1835. She was married to Solomon Andrews
Aug 24, 1852. Died Jan 18, 1916. She is
survived by the following children: Turman Andrews of New Richmond; Ed Andrews
of Romney; Barr Andrews of Linden; Sim Andrews of Iowa; Mrs. Joseph Marshall of
Crawfordsville; Mrs. Elizabeth Woodson of Lafayette; Mrs. David Leper of
Warsaw, Ind. One brother, Aaron Layton
of Linden. She leaves 23 grandchildren 7
great grandchildren. Early in life she united with the ME Church and she was a
devoted member and was deeply interested in the work of the different
departments of the church. It has been
the pleasure of the writer of this brief sketch of her life to know her for
years and many pleasant thoughts of her will linger in my memory. During the weeks of affliction she was
blessed w ih the constant attention of her devoted children. When not on a
mission of love and service, when not employed on duties which her Christian
life threw in her pathway she could be found at home acting the part of a
christian mother, a joy to the community and so we humbly submit to the will of
God who doeth all things well and ... timely death and realize that one has
been taken whose life has been fraught with so much good. ... the people of
Romney and community both old and young will miss Grandma Andrews for all loved
her and she in turn loved all. During
her sickness her suffering was severe but she never complained. Funeral services held ME Church Friday 2 and
interment will be made in Romney Cemetery.
