Avery Andrews, 50, stereotyper and pressman for The Journal-Review for more than two decades, died at 8 a.m. Thursday at his home, 320 Lafayette Ave. He had been in failing health since December, 1964. He began work for the newspaper on Jan. 1, 1942, and was employed there continuously until ill health forced him to retire several months ago. Prior to employment at The Journal-Review, he worked at the Bottorff Grocery for a time and was in Detroit for two years. Born May 1, 1915, at Indianapolis, he was the son of Frank and Laura Bellus Andrews. He was married Nov. 25, 1935, to Bonnie M. Bridges. He was a member of the Nazarene Church and of the Eagles Lodge. The survivors are the widow; three sons, James Andrews of Indianapolis, Jerry Andrews of Romney and Larry Andrews, a U.S. Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif.; a daughter, Valerie Andrews, at home; a brother, Charles Andrews of Crawfordsville; a half-sister, Mrs. Ethel Spivey of Crawfordsville, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Friday.
