Jesse Newton Anderson, youngest son of Martin and Mary McCorkle Anderson was born Feb 23, 1863, and departed life Oct 8, 1914, aged 51 Years 7 Months 12 Days. He was united in marriage with Miss Mary Walsh Dec 24, 1895. This union was blessed with one son, Jesse Fay, who with his mother and two devoted brothers remain to cherish the exemplary life of their beloved one. Mr. Anderson had been a sufferer from a complication of diseases for the past two years and one of his physicians said to him that he was the most patient in such severe sickness of any case he had known, and he was one man in a 100 who could meet death with a smile. All that medical science could do and every kindess that loving hands could render was done but our ways are not God's ways because His ways are higher. Unassuming and unpretentious in his daily life he never overlooked an opportunity to do good and no sacrifice was too great for him to make for the sick and the aged. His life was an open book and many times he remarked that he was not afraid to die. This is a fitting memorial to his memory. Funeral services were held at his home by Rev. Mitchell and were attended by a large and sympathetic crowd and burial was at the cemetery east of town. -- kbz
