Kingman -- Thurman Alward, 79 was found dead in bed at his rural Kingman home Friday morning. A farmer he was born in Jackson Twp, Fountain County on Dec 23, 1887, the son of  Henry and Sarah McKinsey Alward. He was a member of the Wallace Christian Church and Masonic Lodge 495 F & AM of Wallace. Alward never married. Survivors include a sister, Miss Icel Alward and a sister-in-law Mrs. Charlotte Alward with whom he made his home, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday July 10 at Woodrow Funeral Home where friends may call from 2-4 and 7-8. - kbz

A lifelong bachelor, Alward was born in Jackson Twp on Dec 23, 1887, the son of Henry and Sara McKinsey Alward. He was a member of Wallace Christian Church and Masonic Lodge 495, F&AM of Wallace.
