Sarah A. Alward, daughter of George & Catherine Kemp McKinsey was born in the state of Ohio Feb 11, 1857. She grew to womanhood and 45 years ago, was united in marriage to Henry Alward who passed away two years ago. After her marriage she and her husband began housekeeping in the vicinity of her present home, where she continued to reside until the end. She had been seriously ill for the past 3 weeks and while every effort was put forth to prolong her life, yet it was without avail for in the morning hours of Thursday March 25, she passed peacefully away at the age of 69 years 1 month and 14 days, leaving to mourn, 2 daughters, Icel who resided with her mother, Mrs. Joseph Bowman of near Wallace, 4 sons, Thurman who resided with his mother, Arista of Kingman, Bert of Lebanon, Tenn and George of ND; 6 grandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs. Amanda Engle of Hillsboro other relatives and many friends. Truly she was a good woman and left her impression for good, on all who came in contact with her through out these many years. But she has paid the price allotted unto all mankind to play, and has gone unto her reward and may peace be unto her departed soul. The sermon was preached by HA Lashbrook at the Centennial church She was buried in the Centennial Church cemetery. - typed by kbz
