Kingman - Mrs. Charlotte S. Alward, 85, died unexpectedly in her home, 2 1/2 miles southwest of Wallace Friday night. She had resided with her sister-in-law, Miss Icle Alward of Rt 2, Kingman since retiring from the faculty of Milligan College at Jackson City, Tenn in 1950. She was born Nov 23, 1884, to Rev. Henry and Elizabeth Sills Steelman. She married Bert Alward on June 18, 1925 at Seattle, Wash. He died in 1961. She attended Yeddo Baptist Church and was a member of Freedom Ladies Aid. She was a graduate of Kalamazoo College, Mich and taught school 48 years. Surviving besides Miss Alward is a twin sister, Miss Deborah Steelman of Salt Lake City, utah; 3 sisters, Mrs. Carlton Dark of Helmet, Claif.; Mrs. Robert Rice of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Roy Edris of Sedona, AZ; a brother, Alfred Steelman of Lutherville, Md; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Helen Isbell of Elkhart; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Paul R. Alward of Crawfordsville; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Sadie Alward of Rt. 1, Kingman, a grandson, Paul Alward of Crawfordsville; and two great grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown. Burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Monday. - kbz
