Died on Saturday afternoon, the 7th, at his residence, 3 ½ miles northeast of the city, of laryngitis, Alvin Allen, aged 64 years and 4 months. Deceased was a native of Bourbon County, Kentucky, but came to Indiana in 1828 when only 19 years old. He settled in Tippecanoe County, where he remained nine years. At the end of that time, or about 1837, he moved to his farm in this county, where he lived to the time of his death. He was an upright and honorable man, and a useful citizen, and his loss will be seriously felt by the community in which he lived. He died without an enemy in the world.
