Allen, Stephen

Stephen Allen, sen., died at the residence of his son-in-law, William H. Buser, in Scott township, this morning, at the age of 82 years. The deceased was born in Kentucky April 8, 1856, and moved to Montgomery county in 1820, settling in Brown township upon the farm he possessed when he died, having entered it from the Government in 1828. He had five children, having four daughters and one son, Charles E. Allen. The surviving daughters are Mrs. Wm. Buser, Mrs. J.W. Hanna, Mrs. H.A. Foster, Mrs. Wm. J. Davis. He was a member of the Missionary baptist church for 30 years before his death. He was a man honored among his fellows, honest, energetic and prompt. He was the holder during his life of several positions of trust and profit; he was a kind and accommodating neighbor and a patriarch in his household. The funeral will be held at Freedom church, Saturday, services conducted by Rev. G.P. Fuson. – thanks to Kim H
