Mildred S. Adkins, 96, formerly of Danville, Ill died 1:25 p.m. Monday in Lane House, Crawfordsville. Mrs. Adkins formerly owned and operated a collection agency at Danville from 1930-1944. She later worked as a secretary for the local schools in the Danville area and later retired in 1976 from the library of the Danville Area Community College. Her memberships included Central Park Church of Christ and Royal Neighbors of America. She was a 1923 Hillsboro HS graduate. She was born March 3, 1905 in Fountain County to Eli Levi and Nellie Vie Lighty Smith. She married John B. Adkins on Sept 25, 1927 at Veedersburg. He died Aug 12, 1969. Survivors include a daughter, Karen McDonald, Waynetown; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A sister, Delcie Ireland and a brother, Will Smith are deceased. Funeral services are schedule 11 a.m. Friday in Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro with Rev. Glenn Brigman officiatnig. Burial in Waynetown masonic Cemetery.
