Last rites were held Tuesday afternoon for William W. AMES, 79, of near Rosedale, who died almost instantly after being struck by a car in Terre Haute Sunday morning about 12:30. Services were conducted at the Cottrell-Williams Funeral home in Rosedale with the Rev. James Pender officiating. Burial was in Memory Garden Cemetery at Rockville. Mr. Ames had left home about 10:00 o'clock Saturday morning and members of his family becoming alarmed when he had not returned by nightfall, notified authorities who issued a "missing person" bulletin. Mr. Ames had driven by car from his home and the automobile later was found on a street in Terre Haute a considerable distance from where he was struck and killed. The driver of the car involved in the accident was Velma Ball, 52 of Blanford who reported that she was driving north on US 41, about 12:30 a.m. when she struck a man shortly after she had crossed the Milwaukee Railroad. She stated she did not see him until it was too late to stop the car she was not held. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Davis of Grand Rapids, MI; two sons, Carl of Rosedale RR1 and Dean of Terre Haute and five grandchildren. - kbz
