Jess Eston Alward, 77 of Grange Corner passed away at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville at 8:20 p.m. Sunday July 24 1960. Born January 3, 1883 in Fountain County, he was a son of George T, and Mary Gooding Alward. He was married in April 1905 to Iona Rollins who survives. To this union were born four sons, Stanton, Kingman Route 1; Cliston, Marshall; Leston "Buss" of Rockville, John Quentin at home. Services were 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wolfe Creek Church with Rev. John Servies officiating. Burial in Wolfe Creek cemetery with Servies Funeral Home in charge. - kbz

Eston J. ALWARD, 77 of Grange Corner died July 24, 1960 at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville where he had undergone surgery July 17. Born Jan 3, 1883 in Fountain County he was one of 3 children of Tim & Mary Alward. Willie Alward, a brother, preceded and Mrs. Alf Clove of Kingman a sister survives. He was educated in Parke County schools and was a blacksmith during his early life. For the past 28 years he and his wife had operated Grange Corner Grocery. He was married to Iona Robbins at Rockville April 16, 1905. To this union were born: Stanton of Kingman; Cliston of Marshall; Leston (Bus) of Rockville and John G., Marshall. He is survived by his wife the four sons, five grandchildren and 3 greats. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in Wolf Creek church - burial at Wolf Creek. Rev. John Servies was in charge. - kbz
