Grange Corner Grocer is Dead -- George Timothy Alward, 74, former Grange Corner Grocer, died at 11 o'clock Thurs a.m. at his home of a complication of disease. He had been in failing health for several years. Born at Grange Corner, Nov 9, 1862, a son of Tobias L and Mahala Keller Alward. Mr. Alward spent all of his life in Parke Co. He married Mary E. Gooding 50 years ago. Mr. Alward was in the grocery business until his ill health forced him to retire. Surviving are the widow; one son, J. Eston Alward, Grange Corner; one daughter, Mrs. Alfred Clore, near Kingman; two half-bros, John & Frank Alward; two half-sisters, Mrs. Ellen Harrison, Cayuga, and Mrs. Sarah Cotton, Covington; four grandsons; one granddaughter and two great grandsons. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at the Wolf Creek Church, South of Wallace. Burial was in the Wolf Creek Cemetery, adjoining the church. - kbz
