Mrs. Emma (Emmy) Alward, 87 of Kingman died at the Wallace Nursing Home in Rockville early Tuesday Feb 11, 1958. She had been a patient there 10 months. Born in a covered wagon while crossing the Ozark Mountain in Missouri, June 28, 1870 she was a daughter of Elza and Minerva Davis Byrd. She was married April 16, 1902 to George Alward, who preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons: Earl of Veedersburg RR and Maynard of Rockville; a brother, Charles Byrd of Greencastle; two sisters, Mrs. Linda Graham of Amo, Ind; and Mrs. Betty Wingart of Whitesville, Ind; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son and brother. The body is at the Woodrow Funeral Home, Kingman where friends may call after noon Wednesday. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Centennial Church near Yeddo with Rev. Mr. Rose of Rockville officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before the services. -- kbz
