Wallace -- Mrs. Dorcas Alward, 54 of Wallace, died at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday Aug 24, 1977 at Burnham City Hospital, Champaign, Illinois. She was a housewife and had resided most of her life in the Wallace and Grange Corner areas. Born August 8, 1923, near Shannondale, she was the daughter of Roy and Mary Cox Cook. She was married Oct 24, 1952 in New Market, to Donald Alward who survives. She was a member of the Friends union church and attended the Wallace Christian Church. She also was a member of the Wallace Ladies Aid and Wolf Creek Ladies Aid. Other survivors include two daughters, Carolyn and Brenda, at home; a son, Larry at home; her mother of Thorntown; and a sister, Mrs. Albert (Vera) Wethington of rural Thorntown. She was preceded in death by her father 1972. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Thomas Funeral Home, Waynetown with Rev. John Foxworthy officiating. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. -- kbz
