ACTON—Mrs. Salome Alexander, 68, died Thursday morning in University Heights Hospital, Indianapolis, after a long illness. She was born Jan. 27, 1902, in Colfax to William and Edith Rettinger Smith. She married Walter L. Alexander on March 1, 1922. Mrs. Alexander graduated from Ladoga High School. She attended Vincennes Teachers College and taught for a short time at Ladoga. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Christian Church, Acton. Surviving are her husband; a son, John of Indianapolis; five daughters, Mrs. Sara McDonald and Mrs. Pauline Copeland, both of Acton, Mrs. Ruth Brock of Centerton, Mrs. Bertha Sheperd of Greenwood and Linda, at home; a brother, Lloyd Smith of Crawfordsville; two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Howard of Veedersburg and Mrs. Clydie Greensburg of Covington; an aunt, Mrs. Claude Rogers of Ladoga; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons who died in infancy. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Sterling Funeral Home in Acton, where friends may call after 6 p.m. Saturday.
