Mrs. Carrie Craig (Virgie) Alexander, 80, of 1002 W. Wabash Ave., died Tuesday afternoon at her home. She had been a resident of this city 44 years. She was a member of Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, Art League, PEO Sisterhood and Business & Professional Women's Club. Born Nov. 16, 1883 at Toledo, Ohio, she was a daughter of Joseph P. and Fanny Kepley Rice. She married Stephen J. Alexander June 14, 1911. They were married at Ladoga. Mrs. Alexander attended school at New Albany where she lived with her parents until 1910. Survivors include the husband; a son, Dr. Stephen J. Alexander of Crawfordsville; a cousin, Miss Irene Hawes of New Albany; and three grandchildren. Memorial services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church with Dr. John G. DeKruyter officiating. The family requests that contributions be made to the Cancer Fund in lieu of flowers.
